A conscience if you're literal, a Spirit if you're faithful

Here are a couple of things about me that may or may not surprise you.  First I'm a christian.  Second I'm skeptical.  It's important that you know both of these points, because I'm gonna start posting my thoughts.  Depending on which side of me you know best, you may be surprised by some of the things I post.  You many not agree with them, but I hope you'll at least think about the posts.

Now to get to the subject of the title.  This morning I was praying and as I did it I heard a little voice in my head.  Everybody has heard that voice.  Most people call it their conscience.  It's a bunch of electrical and chemical impulses firing off inside your head.  That "little voice" tells you when things are good, bad, right, or wrong.  Sometimes we listen to that little voice and sometimes we don't.  Sometime we even have conversations with the "little voice" trying to change the voice's opinion of wrong to right or bad to good.

When I hear that voice in my head this morning, and I started to wonder "Where does my conscience end and God's spirit begin?"  Is that voice really all me or is there some of God there as well.  I think if you literally look at the conscience as just those electrical impulses, you miss out on all the possibilities.  When you are on a phone call, everything you hear is an electrical pulse that has been converted to sound.  That pulse was started somewhere else by somebody else.  With just a tiny little bit of faith, we could say that some of those sounds we hear in our head might have started somewhere else by somebody else.

For me I'm going to start listening to my conscience a little differently.  I believe God talks to everybody, and maybe he's using that "little voice"  to try to make changes in my life.  Maybe there's more behind those thought and ideas then just me arguing with myself.  Maybe, just maybe, it's me debating with God, and I should stop arguing my point and start listening to his.

More wandering around "The Bend"

So I spent another hour or so wandering around the Chattahoochee Bend Stat Park.  I picked up the end of my last walk and took it a little farther.  The water shed that had the nice granite slide last time was dry, but it did give me a chance to find the start of the stream.  It looks like it would be quite pretty if you came through after a heavy rain.  There is a very cool tree that appears to be rooted on both sides of stream with the water flowing under tree trunk.

One crop of bolder included a mini "Fat Man's Squeeze" (yes I did fit).  Many of the stones at the top of the bowl had a very heavy moss cover that was quite lush.  There were a bolder and a tree locked in a battle for the same piece of ground.  Looks like the battle has been under way for 50+ years, and they may have just called a truce.

Of all the things I stumbled across, my favorite was the small pine tree growing out of the granite rock.  There wasn't any dirt or  other plants just a sole tree growing out of a large chunk of granite.  Just shows that determination make anything possible.

Exploring Chattahoochee Bend State Park

So right around the corner from me is a big state park.  The park is under construction, but there are still lots of old logging roads to explore.  Me, Lenny, and Allie took off for a couple of hours and wondered around a bit.  We found alot of exposed granite as well as a few neat trees.  I think we might start heading over there once a week or so to see what else we might find.
